About Us
Core Martial Arts and Fitness (“Core”) is a school (dojo) designed to promote positive changes in our student’s lives through the practice of Jiu Jitsu, kickboxing and other forms of martial arts.  We place a heavy emphasis on physical fitness and health, incorporating them into all of our classes.  Our instructors have a passion for training and work hard to improve their own martial arts techniques, physical fitness, and teaching skills.  We love what we do and try to reflect that in our classes and our service.  We want our clients to have a great time training and enjoy the benefits our classes provide.  We will do our very best to insure that your time with us is time well spent and that you leave our classes with a feeling of accomplishment.

What drives us
Our motivation is to share the positive effects of martial arts, health and fitness with our community.  We want to help people change their lifestyle to live a happier, healthier, and more exciting life.  We have a desire to empower people to make better choices, live with less stress, and develop the strength and ability to address their fears.

The Core Team

A brief description is in order to help prospective students get a feel for the instructors of our school.  First and foremost it is important to remember that Core is not about us, it is about you.  Our intention is not to promote our own accomplishments or deeds.  As this may have some relevance in your choice to train with us, it also does little to help with your success.  After all when searching for a school what really is important is what the school can do to help you.

Our school is about progression and our instructors reflect this mode of thinking.  We are very open-minded to adapting our programs to serve the changing needs of our students and to address the evolution of an art that will always keep growing.  After all this is the true nature of Jiu Jitsu.

Eric ~ Director-Chief Instructor-Owner:  As a practitioner, Eric has studied martial arts for 17 years and has taught for over 10 years.  Eric has a Sandan (3rd degree black belt) in traditional Jiu Jitsu.  He has studied arnis and other Filipino stick fighting systems for his entire martial arts career.  He has trained extensively in Chinese Kenpo, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai kickboxing.  In addition to martial arts training, Eric has been a personal fitness trainer for five years and has studied intently on body mechanics, posture, and alignment.

Eric served in a quick reaction force/combat unit in the US Army participating in combat missions in Somalia, Africa.  He is CPR-certified and has extensive first-aid training.

Eric teaches classes on a regular basis and is available to help students with specific problems and detail work.  As the Director, Eric is always working to improve the school curriculum and refining techniques to make them more applicable for students.  He oversees the majority of school operations and leads the instructor training course.  As an entrepreneur and business owner Eric is dedicated to learning the fine arts of business and customer service.  Forever a student Eric is always working on improving his own teaching and martial arts techniques so that he can provide the best possible training environment for the students.

When not teaching or training, it is very likely to find Eric snowboarding, hiking, mountain biking, backpacking, traveling, kayaking, rafting or learning some new and exciting sport.  Eric has an open, laid back style that is welcoming and approachable.
